The last leg

Overnight stops (in date order): west of Hamburg; east of Brussels; Maisons-Lafitte (x5); Fargues sur Ourboise (x2); Maisons-Lafitte (x3); Wissant (x3)

We drove slowly (the truck doesn’t do quick) through a very wet northern Germany and Belgium to Maisons-Lafitte, a suburb of Paris, where we spent a few days sightseeing

and enjoying the food.

We broke our stay by travelling south by TGV to visit a friend near Bordeaux

and then moved to the coast at Wissant for the last three days of the trip.

From Dover the truck, which the DVLA considers to have been permanently exported, had to go straight to a garage for an MOT

and we, after two years and one week away during which time we visited 21 countries in five continents and drove 74,000km, went home.
